Notes from our meeting on Thursday 9th of September

We met at 12.00 and discussed for about an hour. We had the following ideas to try out:

Uniforms. Use the pattern to hack the normality of uniforms. Ronald Jones from the dept. of IS always wears a vest. That is a kind of uniform for him. Given his status, this is also a normality for him to dress plainly and neatly with a vest and pants in dark colors. We can make a vest out of our fabric and ask him to wear it, and then we can document it.

Logos and signs. Some typefaces are associated to some brands, institutions, etc. To change the normality about logos and typefaces we might use Helvetica. Helvetica is quite a moderate, a normal typeface, so we can ironically remake everything in Helvetica where actually diversity of logos and typefaces is accepted as norm. We decided to hack the Ericsson and Konstfack logos and remake them in Helvetica and document it.

Status, power and identity. Some objects, patterns, typefaces, spaces are associated with norms related to status, power and identity. This is also worth considering. An idea to try out: Go to a meeting, for instance, of a department, and make the head of the department sit on our Ikea stool where the rest still sit on their comfortable chairs.
