The Pattern: We started by asking people around Telefonplan using work clothes or uniforms if we could take a picture of them wearing our patterned vest. We got both positive and negative reactions. Positive from a painter at the building site, even though he didn't speak neither swedish or english. We also took pictures of a driver, the ladies working at the pharmacy and a florist. The male staff of the foodstore were very negative to help us and the man working in the subway booth and the staff of pressbyrÄn said they weren't allowed to change their clothes during working time.
To try out further: We also decided to test the vest on the staff of the school cafeteria, but at a time when it is less crowded (this was at lunch time).
The Stool: We got some plastic and made a seat for the chair. We didn't wanted to make it too similar to the original ones at Svarta Havet, just to make it look more like the abnormal chair was trying to fit in but didn't really succeed.
The Typeface: We talked about how we thought the posters looked quite normal despite the fact that we changed them all to Helvetica. We decidied this was because the graphics still had different sizes and styles.
To try out: We decided to change all text into the same size and style, for example 18pt and regular. Could this be more abnormal and eyecatching? We also decided to start changing the typeface, to make it fit in in different context. A suggestion was to try to make it become more rebellic for example by making grafitti out of helvetica or try to print out the letters and make piercings and jewelery for them. (This idea came from the school uniforms that teens try to change and personalize in different ways to stand out from the average crowd).
